2024 Year End Appeal
Tuesday, December 31, 2024
This past year has proven to be one filled with many achievements and joyful events. Our community continues to thrive and grow thanks to our members and friends. Fostering community, forging new friendships, and combating isolation are essential to North Fork Women’s goals of wellness and well-being.
Today I am asking you to help us again by contributing to our Annual Appeal. The needs of our community are ever present, and meeting these challenges takes support. As of October 2024, income from our fundraising events and donations have enabled us to provide grants to 24 members, totaling $28,456.49. These are in addition to $3,131.80 for medical alert devices and volunteer HelpHer calls — and the year isn’t over yet.
We are also proud of our ever-increasing participation in public events such as the inaugural North Fork Juneteenth Parade, annual Greenport Maritime Parade, and of course, the annual North Fork Pride Parade.
Our monthly First Friday Friends gatherings have become a basic staple in addition to our many annual events such as the Founders Award Dinner, Oyster Extravaganza, Golf Outing, and Labor Day Auction Benefit. Upcoming new spotlights such as hiking groups and music workshops are now in the mix. Stay tuned!
Today I am asking you to help us again by contributing to our Annual Appeal. The needs of our community are ever present, and meeting these challenges takes support.
Our outreach and collaborations with our neighboring North Fork community organizations such as CAST, as well as numerous local businesses, continue to expand.
We are especially pleased as our co-sponsored events and collaborations with Queerli (Queer Long Island) grow and flourish while deepening and enriching our joint community.
We are listening. This past summer we were able to raise $5,950 to send eight local children from under-served communities to summer camp through a collaborative effort with CAST. We look forward to expanding this program for the summer of 2025. This wonderful idea was proposed by a member of our community. It takes a village.
Please consider contributing to our Annual Appeal. As we continue to plan for the months ahead, your support strengthens and guides our direction, enabling us to help those in need within our community and beyond.
With thanks and best to all,
Barbara Novick
President, North Fork Women
P.S. —Please take a moment for our short, anonymous survey so we may learn how best to be of service to our members. We greatly value your input! Go to: NorthForkWomen.org/survey.
