Cammy Thomas, Poet
Friday, December 4, 2020 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm EST
Get together with other North Fork Women to listen and participate in a reading of poetry by Cammy Thomas. Cammy will read some of her poems with a Q&A and general discussion to follow. There will be around 12 minutes of reading, and then we open it up. Bring snacks, enjoy a relaxed atmosphere. Zoom in for an interesting reading and lively general discussion.
Cammy Thomas has published two collections of poetry, Inscriptions, and Cathedral of Wish, which received the Norma Farber First Book Award from the Poetry Society of America. A third, Tremors, will be out in fall of 2021, from Four Way Books. She has an MFA from Warren Wilson College, and a PhD in English from Berkeley, where her dissertation was on women and the feminine in Tennyson’s poetry. Two of her poems, under the title Far Past War, were set to music by her sister, composer Augusta Read Thomas, and will premiere at Washington’s National Cathedral in 2021. Having taught all levels of creative writing, composition, and literature, from high school to graduate school, she lives in Lexington, Massachusetts.
