Rising Opera Star Performs at Jamesport Meeting House
Emily Cedriana Donato, hailed by Opera News as a “bright soprano with a compelling joy in singing,” will appear in concert at the Jamesport Meeting House on Saturday afternoon, November 23rd, at 4 p.m., to inaugurate the second season of the historic venue’s 1731 Concert Series.
A recent recipient of a masters degree in music from Yale University, she has performed as a soloist with Musica Viva of New York and the American Symphony Orchestra and has sung under such celebrated conductors as Masaaki Suzuki, Simon Carrington, Leon Botstein, David Hill and Nicholas McGegan.
Miss Donato will be accompanied on the piano by Walter Klauss, artistic director emeritus of the critically acclaimed Musica Viva of New York and the former chairman of the music department at the C.W. Post Center of Long Island University.
The program will range from Monteverdi and Bach to Broadway show tunes and include works by composer and North Fork resident Patsy Rogers, whose music has been performed throughout the world. She had served as conductor of the Recorder Orchestra of New York, which has performed in concert several times at the Meeting House.
A reception with the musicians will follow the performance. Admission to the concert is free, but a donation at the door would be appreciated.
